This artwork presents contemporary and historical flags in dialogue, as selected by users.
Tensions may emerge as users select and reject flags for display.
These tensions and emergent events DO NOT represent the opinion or perspectives of the artist.
Efforts have been made to remove flags strongly associated with or used by contemporary hate groups.
If you encounter any flags which inherently promote hate, please report them for review via my website, https://leobaylybarton.com.
This work invites you to reflect on what flags are, and how they reinforce certain identities and ideologies across the globe today.

About the Dataset
The dataset includes approximately 30,000 flags from around the world, past and present.
The dataset includes public-domain (or equivalent) flags aquired via Wikimedia Commons.
The data was carefully cleaned to remove: exact duplicates, rotations, non-flags and hate flags.
It does not claim to be an exhaustive dataset of all flags ever used, and it does not include every flag in the world today.
If any important flags are missing or any non-relevant flags are included, please suggest them to me!
Data Collection?
No data is gathered or stored beyond what is publicly visible in the logs.
